From Tg. Aru to Beaufort - A Train Journey

Image
Started bright and early yesterday, Thursday, 2nd of March 2023. My cousin and I decided for a daytrip train ride from Tanjung Aru Railway Station to Beaufort and back. Was kind of excited honestly, coz I haven't rode a train here in Sabah in years and this will my first to Beaufort by train(which will usually be a family car trip). When we reached the Tg. Aru station, there were already a long queue of people at the ticketing counter. The staff were efficient so no worries about that. Ticket price per adult was RM 9.60 for Tanjung Aru- Beaufort-Tanjung Aru. Before you decide to take a train ride, be prepared to be there early, bring cash and prepare your own food/snacks as they will be no food selling at the Tg. Aru Railway Station. The ticketing counter will be open half and hour before and all payment must be paid in cash. We were finally boarding the train after it was supposed to be leaving at 7.45am but got delayed 5 minutes late. Patiently waiting to get with the amount se...

Guess who is back?

Few years have passed, Where she was once connected, Back when life was wild, Till it felt like the world has died, But for now she has returned. ❤

| Shah Alam / Kuala Lumpur | April 2016 : Day 3

Image
Early mornings on a holiday is so not getting in me but we need to do what we need to do. It was way too early and still early when we got to the university venue for my sister's graduation. I don't work great with long hours and hot weather. Like oh my goodness I was already beyond cranky with sweats at the end of the day. But I survived. And I was beyond happy for words that I get to witnessed my sister's graduation.  Called our preferred driver that late afternoon to pick us up.  Was really excited to be back in KL that evening. Traffic jam was pretty bad heading towards the city centre on weekends. As we finally arrived at our hotel, we stayed at Bintang Warisan this time around and I simply love the oriental feel to it. Just in case you didn't know yet, there is something about differences in cultures that I adore. This one reminds me where part of me are from. Settled in and had a little rest before we decided to go out again. ...

| Shah Alam V1 | April 2016 : Day 2

Image
Late night slumber still lingering, On my mind had something playing. We were supposed to have that breakfast down at the hotel's buffet table but we just want that chee cheong fun and raw fish porridge at Chinatown Petaling Street. The thing about staying just next to the street. We later head down to Sogo Mall area using the convenient train ride and around nearby malls. I was not up for shopping any items yet, so I just had a quick browse on the shelves. Everyone kind of had early lunch but I was not hungry so I just had laici kang drink before we rushed back to the hotel. It was already noon when we checked out of the hotel. I gave in the idea that we should use GrabCar instead. We figured that some taxis are no longer on our list. Sorry but not sorry. Take this as a challenge to improve your services please. I rather go for Grab or Uber now. Reached Shah Alam and we got ourselves an artsy fartsy hotel for the night. It was so pretty! Headache from the p...

| Kuala Lumpur/ Selangor | April 2016 : Day 1

Image
Early morning airport vibes before flying off. Still sleepy on that very day but oh so good to get some off from work.  In the state of blurriness ( If such word even exist ), coincidently this familiar place was caught up with haze at the same time. It was ecitement and mied feelings to be here after like almost 10 years. Reminiscing over the years where I met part of the Frequency Cannon band, my Borneo girls Izah and Evon (  whom we met because of our love for the local bands ), Hsu Jen, Joyce and Sze Ning from our roadtrip to the Orang Asli village. Touchdown on a Friday. Unexpected plans were set on for the night. I was never a avid party goer but I was always a fan of Urbanscape event from afar back home. So it was great to hear that my musician friend, Shaneil got me in the party. Went for the ride with Marsha, a friend of Shaneil, along Petaling Street and we finally found the Urbanscape House right at Medan Pasar. When we've arrived, it was arou...

In the Heart Of Thaipusam

Image
Bright sunny days, Somedays somehow it will eventually be it,  in love of those days, like I finally no longer denying it. Was on a flight from Selangor recently, sat beside the window looking at the clouds. Restless me, I just need to do something. I took an inflight magazine out. Just browsing I swear, never intended to do a heavy reading anyway. But, but this particular article took my attention, I just had to.  I am no religious person to begin with. But I have an open mind about learning and accepting other people's own. It doesn't matter what race or religion you are in, I believe that knowing other people's beliefs make you understand them more.  Well back to speaking of the article I have just read. It was about a Tamil- Hindu celebration called Thaipusam. I have always wanted to come and visit Batu Caves since I don't know when. I'm no fit kind of person and to think that I had to climb those stairs, makes me think twice. But it will als...

Exit

Image
How do you define the word 'E xit'?   This is how I define it in my own dictionary.   It all began like this.... Breathe into life, that loud cry, naked in innocence. Entered the gates of beyond expectations. This they say it's short, life could be temporary but it could also be sweet. But nothing last forever, no never, no matter how much we wanted to. Letting it out and go maybe the hardest, moving on shall be the best way. Somehow at last, when the time has come, door closes to bid farewell, back to dust and ashes we shall leave.

That Night With You

Chugged down our drinks on a midnight, Loud whispers conversation through our ears. Engrossed over the sound of music, the band playing was superb, I literally fainted. You were not playing music that night but you in your sexy curls, whom I bid farewell in hugs that late hours.

Untitled - 9th April 2016

Black ink on a piece of paper,  Penned down on what was once blank, Words of the writer, it made a come back.  About awhile it has been. Opportunity was great while it last. But she realize, she then refused. What was not in her heart anymore.  Another one came by. This might be it. Moving on, where was the music to my heart?  It was weird.  Last night, it drums hardcore enough. It made her sang again. In all sudden, of all Friday night. She could agree that sometimes, somedays, everyone need a just a little bit of  distraction. That good kind of distraction she must say.  I guess it knocked her silly!

Good bye Jakarta! | May 2015

Image
It was an early morning flight, so we just took naps for a bit. Hotel gave us a take away breakfast box which contained Nutella and colourful sprinkles on top of a bread. I could barely touch it for a bite but I just had to. Thank goodness for Teh Botol Sosro to wash down my food, it was too sweet for my liking but what the heck!  I was still too sleepy when we got to the airport. Felt like a panda walking through airport ticket counters and immigrations. Something caught my eyes though. I remembered chatting with Imsy ( a nickname for a music buddy of mine ) who recommended food that I need to try in Indonesia. So this is one of it. Bakmi GM. I didn't get to try the non fast food bakmi but this one will do for now. It was nice for my savoury taste.  Walked around till it is finally the call to go home.  Definitely not my last visit to the Indonesia.

Best Spa in Town | Last Day | Jakarta | May 2015

Another day for a whole day of shopping and finally some time to get pampered. Who would have thought that I would thought I love to this of addiction. This 'Mustika Ratu' place was too luxury for words. And later, our last dinner in Jakarta.

Lunch, Indonesian Style! | Jakarta | May 2015

Image
Truth be told, I am not a fan of this. Yes, I eat hot and spicy and all but this, not really. But it is my first time here. Although we have this back home as well, I don't think it is the same as the authentic, original ones here. I was game enough to have this 'Nasi Padang' with Soursop Juice along. Oh, lunch was at Salero Jumbo in Jakarta by the way. Overall, it was good, not bad at all.

Jakarta | May 2015

Image
Just visiting some touristy spots in around Jakarta. But since it's the weekend, we pretty much can not do much. Most of the historical buildings are closed for the day. And we kinda accidentally crash a wedding at a church, gracefully ( haha! ) but they were kind enough for us to enter and even gave us their wedding favors! That was the first and definitely the highlight of the day.

Kampung Daun Culture Gallery & Cafe | Bandung | May 2015

Image
Before going back to Jakarta, we just had to have lunch at this place. By far, my most favourite place to dine in. It is somehow a bit pricey but with a view to kill and luscious green surroundings, we just could not resist it. I am so in love! Sitting like you are somehow in a kampong style, eating with nothing but your bare hands while water flows just next to your hut.  There are simply a variety of food to choose but we had the ones in a platter, each of us. There is no other better way to end this trip in Bandung.

Floating Market Lembang | Bandung | Day 3 | May 2015

Image
Sun is shining, Such a beautiful morning. I t was so bright that day but the wind was blowing, greeted by a welcome drink  ( which you get to choose from at the counter ) at the main entrance of Floating Market Lembang.  Where to, next?  It was a rather huge park but we only have like an hour or so. First stop was the art gallery shop which display most paintings of beautiful Bandung. And it was also a souvenir shop for those who wanted to buy gifts for friends and family. We walked around for a bit while capturing moments along the way. See where the road lead us to. Walking,  Passing by, We then went for a few minutes boat ride. Thank God that it was a sunny day and it was not raining. Weather's been really great.  Saying goodbye to the rabbits and duckies.  A rather super quick walk, I hate it when we were running out of time. The next time, I am comi...
